Here are two video clips (above, and below) from the IHCAFE office in Marcala.
Brewed Behavior and a few clients made quick visit to the producing regions nearest Tegucigalpa last month. With the help of our friend Ulises Sevilla and IHCAFE we visited producers, mills and co-ops. Based on our observations it appears to be another tough year in Honduras overall for quality, with of course the usual exceptions. Of note was co-ops in the Marcala region struggling with access to qualified management.
Out of concern I called David Griswold from Sustainable Harvest during one of our stops. He echoed my observations and in fact let me know that SH had a team of trainers en route to that very region as we spoke. What a relief knowing that they were on top of it. Through time a culture of qualified management will return to the region. We have deep ties and lengthy history with the wonderful people of that region; can’t wait until they are back up to 110%.
Santa Barbara however, continues to lead the charge in quality as you might remember their dominate sweep during last years CoE. We continue to look forward to good things out of them should we see some leniency from Mother Nature.
